This is the first smartphone sporting the new Snapdragon 855.
Lenovo has unveiled world’s first Snapdragon 855 smartphone- The Z5Pro GT. The phone was launched alongside the new Z5s. The Z5Pro GT sports a monstrous 12 GB of RAM and with such hardware beneath, the company is right by adding the GT moniker to the phone.
The phone also brings back some aesthetics of the iconic slider design by placing the front camera beneath the screen of the phone.
Build, Design & Cameras
The phone has a glass build all-around with red metallic frame around the screen. There are also red rims present around the rea facing camera which add to the premium feel of the phone.
There is no notch present on the screen however and the front camera can be accessed by using the slider mechanism. The phone comes with a 16MP+24MP real camera setup and a 16MP+8MP camera setup on the front. The 8MP sensor on the front is infrared sensor and should enhance the face unlock feature on the phone.
The display here is a 6.39 inch 2340 x 1080 resolution AMOLED with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The phone comes with a 3,350 mAh battery which should last a full day.
There is no headphone jack present on the phone with which the flagship lineup of every manufacturer is getting accustomed to.
Hardware & Software
This is where the things get really interesting as Lenovo has equipped the smartphone with the recently launched Snapdragon 855 and a whooping 12 GB RAM. Well, in practice you will never really need this absurd amount of memory but Lenovo is hell-bent on making this the USP of the phone.
The Snapdragon 855 is the fastest processor you can find on a mainstream smartphone beating out the A12 Bionic chip from Apple in Antutu benchmarks.
The phone will come with Android Pie out of the box with Lenovo’s custom UI on top.
The phone definitely has an edge over its competition with a new processor and incredible RAM. It has been priced at $390 for the base 6GB/128GB model while the most powerful 12GB/512GB variant goes for around $650.
At this price the phone will give stiff competition to the recently launched OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.
