The Razer Blade Stealth has always been a good alternative to the Dell XPS 13 and the 13 inch MacBook Air. With a powerful hardware assembled in a much smaller chassis, it is a beast when it comes to raw performance. But it had one shortcoming though – Lack of a dedicated GPU. Sure, you could plug in your external GPU using the Thunderbolt ports but a GPU is a must have on such powerful systems.

Well, that changed this week as Razer announced the new Razer Blade Stealth 2019 with an optional dedicated GPU. Don’t get your hopes high yet as the new upgrade comes at a higher cost.

The pricing for these ultra-portable laptops start at $1399. At this price, you get an i7-8550U quad core CPU, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a 256 GB of SATA M.2 SSD. This is a Full HD IPS screen model with Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics. The CPU is clocked at 1.8 GHz and can go upto 4.0 GHz with Turbo Boost.

For a laptop with just 256 GB of storage and integrated graphics, this laptop is pricier than it’s competition. For example, you can get similarly spec’d Dell XPS 13 for $1199 on Dell’s website right now. Plus with XPS 13 you are also getting a much faster PCIe SSD.

Moving things up a notch, the next variant which is priced at $1599 comes with an upgrade of 16 GB RAM, a faster 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD and an Nvidia MX 150 GPU. With an i7 and a dedicated GPU, this variant will be able to handle anything that you throw at it.

The MX 150 can handle the day to day as well as graphic intensive tasks with ease. You can also play most modern games at 1080p with decent frame rates.

Lastly, you also have an option to go 4k and double the storage at a price tag of $1899. One thing to note here is that the laptop comes with a powerful 25W variant of MX 150. This is in constrast to the 10W variant found on most mid-range laptops.

The screen on this laptop is a standard 60 Hz panel with 170 degrees viewing angles. The laptop is built with a unibody aluminium design with a minimalist branding on top.

The bezels are thin keeping up with the 2018 flagship laptop design pattern. The laptop comes with 4 built-in speakers with the support for Dolby Atmos.

The new Razer Blade Stealth packs powerful hardware, good build and an industrial design. It can complete almost any given task with ease. It will be exciting to see how it fares against Dell’s XPS 13 2019 upgrade.
