According to the leak, the RTX 2060 Max-Q seems to be more powerful than its GTX 1070 counterpart.
Nvidia is expected to announce RTX 2060 Max-Q for upcoming gaming laptops, according to a fresh leak. It comes from a known leaker Apisak, who has posted the specifications and 3D mark benchmarks on his twitter account.
According to the leak the GPU is expected to come with Nvidia’s RTX moniker rather than the GTX naming which was stated in the earlier leaks.
The RTX 2060 features 1,920 CUDA cores similar to the previous gen GTX 1070. As per the leak, the RTX 2060 will feature 6 GB DDR6 VRAM and a 960 MHz core clock. The Max-Q version however will have slightly higher 975 MHz core clock. But the RTX 2060 has 1750 MHz memory bus clock which is significantly higher than its Max-Q variant (1500 MHz).
The 3D Mark benchmarks indicate that the RTX 2060 Max-Q will have slightly better performance than the GTX 1070 Max-Q while the performance will be slightly lower than that of a vanilla GTX 1070. If these numbers are anything to go by, the RTX 2060 may prove to be the next 1440p gaming sweet spot.
But the specifications and benchmarks may change as new leaks emerge , so take this information with a pinch of salt though. No official confirmation or announcement has been made by Nvidia regrading the mid-range RTX cards yet.
But with CES 2019 being right around the corner, we may expect Nvidia to announce these new cards or even new laptops featuring these cards soon.
